The Orioles might announce their minor league coaching staffs this week.
See, I just copied a past entry and inserted the words “minor league.” No heavy lifting.
It appears that they’re waiting to hire a manager at short-season Single-A Aberdeen, with Gary Kendall moving up to Double-A Bowie. Former Baysox manager Brad Komminsk will serve as hitting coach at Triple-A Norfolk, where Gary Allenson will manage again after replacing Juan Samuel as the Orioles’ third base coach.

Got all that?
With Denny Hocking moving up to Bowie as hitting coach, look for Moe Hill to serve as Single-A Frederick’s hitting coach.
The Orioles might add an extra coach to each affiliate.
Also, if you attend a lot of Delmarva Shorebirds games, you’ll get to know roving hitting instructor Denny Walling. He’ll be working quite a bit with shortstop Manny Machado and middle infielder Mychal Givens.
The Orioles drafted Givens as a shortstop, but he’s expected to move to second base.
And speaking of the Orioles, they’re reportedly interested in right-handed reliever Jesse Crain, who posted a 3.04 ERA and struck out 62 in 68 innings with the Twins. Left-handers hit .196 against him, and right-handers batted .228.
Crain has given up two earned runs in 16 1/3 career innings against the Orioles. He’s walked two and struck out 12.
I’d feel better if his ERA wasn’t 6.00 against the Red Sox and 7.31 vs. the Yankees.
I’m wondering how Crain would fit into the bullpen. Would he take David Hernandez’s place if the Orioles make a trade? They still must decide whether to tender a contract to right-handers Jim Johnson and Matt Albers.
I noted how there was no heavy lifting in this blog entry, but I’m writing about a Crain.
Sorry. I’m a little tired this morning.
