Bergesen has allowed three runs or fewer in nine of his last 10 starts and has worked at least seven innings in six of them. He’s also won his last three decisions on the road, and seven of his 12 outings away from home have been quality starts, including the last five.

In his last five road starts, Bergesen is 3-0 with a 1.49 ERA over 36 1/3 innings. However, he’s never pitched at Tropicana Field.
At least there won’t be any noise to distract him.
Nick Markakis leads all left-handed batters with a .350 average against southpaws. However, Rays starter David Price ranks fifth among AL lefties by holding left-handed hitters to a .206 average.
Price is 3-0 with a 2.59 ERA in four career starts against the Orioles. Miguel Tejada owns their only home run off him, back on April 14. And he took it with him to San Diego.
Markakis has 26 RBIs in his last 60 games since Brian Roberts returned to the lineup on July 23 after collecting 31 in his first 94 games.
Koji Uehara has struck out 39 batters without allowing a walk in his last 29 appearances over 31 innings. It’s the best stretch of strikeouts without a walk in the AL since Pedro Martinez fanned 49 batters in 2000. The Padres’ Luke Gregerson had a streak of 41 earlier this season in the National League.
Manager Buck Showalter gets credit for last night’s win. Sorry Jeff Datz.
