Andy MacPhail no longer will serve as president of baseball operations, news that became official late Friday night.

The Orioles have lost two amateur scouts. Keith Connolly, whose coverage area included New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, took a job with the Royals. John Martin, who covered Florida, took a job with the Astros.

Professional scout Chris Bourjos recently left the organization to take a job as a special assignment scout with the Padres. He’s the father of Angels outfielder Peter Bourjos.

I’ve heard from multiple sources that Lee MacPhail IV, director of professional scouting, could be headed back to the Twins, but he dismissed that rumor earlier today.

MacPhail spent 3 1/2 years as an area scout for the Twins, and the 2007 season as a professional scout before the Orioles hired him on Oct. 30 of that year. The Twins currently have a vacancy after Joseph McIlvaine left last month to take a job as a special assistant to Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik.

As you know, manager Buck Showalter is meeting today with owner Peter Angelos and director of baseball operations Matt Klentek. They’ll discuss the candidates to replace Andy MacPhail and also could make some decisions on the coaching staff.

From what I’m hearing, most of the staff is expected to remain intact. Willie Randolph could take another job if it’s offered, so he’d be my pick to end up someplace else. The Orioles still need to hire a bullpen coach.
