Mummey, the 118th overall selection in the draft and highest O’s pick to agree to terms so far, will be officially activated as soon as his contract is approved by Major League Baseball, which could happen any day.

The IronBirds are 2-3 heading tonight’s game at Staten Island. Aberdeen lost the past two nights at Brooklyn. Lefty Blake Mechaw is starting for the IronBirds tonight.

L.J. Hoes is still with Aberdeen as his injury-rehab assignment continues. He went 7 for 15 in those first five games with two doubles, a triple and 2 RBI and doubled his first time up tonight.

This year’s 44th-round pick, Preston Hale out of North Florida, went 3 for 5 with three doubles and an RBI today for the O’s Gulf Coast League team. Tyler Townsend went 3 for 5 with three doubles also and is expected to rejoin the Delmarva Shorebirds Thursday when they begin second-half play.

Here at the Yard, the O’s scored four in the second vs. Ricky Nolasco for a 4-0 lead which included back-to-back solo homers by Luke Scott and Adam Jones. It’s the second back-to-back homers by the O’s on the year after Wieters and Reimold did it May 5 at New York.

The O’s tied their season-high with six hits in that inning, first done in the last of the fifth, May 1 vs. Boston.
