Infielder Yamaico Navarro, who spent one day with the Orioles during the just-concluded homestand, is meeting them in Boston and will be placed on the taxi squad, which allows teams to have a minor leaguer on standby for 24 hours.

Navarro will rejoin Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday if the Orioles don’t adjust their 25-man roster. They will check on outfielder Nolan Reimold, who exited today’s game against the Minnesota Twins after six innings with tightness in his right hamstring. Also, reliever Luis Ayala was sent to a local hospital today after becoming ill, and it’s not known how long he will be unavailable.

Navarro was pulled from Game 2 of Norfolk’s doubleheader today after only two at-bats and replaced by Niuman Romero. He also started at second base in Game 1 and went 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly.

The Orioles recalled Navarro on Friday after placing second baseman Brian Roberts on the 15-day disabled list with a ruptured tendon behind his right knee. He was optioned the following day when the Orioles activated pitcher Chris Tillman.

Navarro is on the 40-man roster, so no corresponding move is required.

Update: Ayala is out of the hospital and will join the Orioles in Boston for the three-game series.

Ayala apparently became dizzy earlier today, but he’s fine. Now he’ll have to deal with reporters asking him about it, which might make a hospital stay seem more appealing.
