In his major league debut, Manny Machado went 2-for-4. He had a triple to right-center in the fifth inning in his second at-bat for his first major league hit and he added an infield single in the seventh.

The Royals led 4-0 just four batters into the game when Alex Gordon led off with a solo shot and later Billy Butler hit a three-run homer. Butler added a double and triple in five at-bats to finish a single short of becoming the first Royal to hit for the cycle since George Brett in 1990.

The seven runs Chen allowed is a season-high and he also gave up nine hits with one walk and five strikeouts, throwing 86 pitches. The Royals got to him for six extra-base hits with three doubles, a triple and two homers.

Chen, who was 3-1 with a 1.95 ERA in five starts since the break, is now 10-7 with an ERA of 3.79.

Matt Wieters hit a solo homer for the Orioles. Over his last three games, Wieters is 7-for-14 with three doubles, three homers and eight RBIs.

The Orioles host KC again on Friday night when Miguel Gonzalez (3-2, 3.80 ERA) pitches against Luke Hochevar (7-9, 5.04 ERA) at 7:05.
