Justin Turner says his left foot feels “a lot better,” but it’s still heavily taped. He’ll get a better read on his condition during batting practice – and if he can avoid the line drives.
Brad Bergesen is scheduled to throw two innings or 35 pitches on Wednesday.
“I feel good,” he said.
“The rehab and the progression has gone to their standards. I didn’t know exactly how it would work, what they’d want me to do, but that’s the plan – 35 pitches, two innings. Bergesen didn’t give his left shin any thought until two balls, hit by Lou Montanez and Michael Aubrey, came screaming up the middle during his live batting practice sessions. That’ll jar your memory.
Bergesen gloved one ball. The other deflected off his right leg.
“I’ve had a couple balls hit back at me, so I got that out of the way,” he said.
“It kind of caught me off guard, but hopefully that did the trick and I’ll be ready to go.”
Brian Matusz starts today’s game, with Jim Johnson, Mike Gonzalez, Koji Uehara and Wilfrido Perez also scheduled to pitch.
Chris Tillman starts tomorrow, followed by Cla Meredith, Dennis Sarfate and Alberto Castillo.
Bergesen goes on Wednesday, followed by Mark Hendrickson, Will Ohman and Kam Mickolio. Matt Albers also might pitch in that game.
Kevin Millwood starts on Thursday. Uehara, Johnson and Castillo also are slated to pitch.
Jeremy Guthrie starts on Friday, followed by Gonzalez, Ohman and Sarfate.
These aren’t complete lists. Other pitchers will enter the games. Just giving you the confirmed names.
