Miguel Gonzalez played catch on flat ground today and is scheduled for a bullpen session Wednesday.
Gonzalez threw his breaking ball today, but he continued to wear a bandage to cover the blister on his right thumb. He will remove it Wednesday for the bullpen session.

Executive vice president Dan Duquette said Kevin Gausman isn’t going to be moved up to Triple-A Norfolk anytime soon and he isn’t going to be promoted to the Orioles. Duquette wants Gausman to continue pitching for Double-A Bowie, where he’s 1-4 with a 3.35 ERA in seven starts, with four walks and 39 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings.
Gausman will make his next start for Bowie on Thursday.
“He’s doing fine where he is,” Duquette said.
The Orioles are willing to eventually promote Gausman to the majors from Bowie, as they did with Manny Machado last August.
Duquette wouldn’t confirm that Jair Jurrjens is starting Saturday. Again, he’s the choice, but the club is waiting to announce it.
“He’s a qualified major leaguer and he’s pitched well for us at Triple-A,” Duquette said. “He’s been a winning major league pitcher.”
Also, the Orioles did watch Carlos Zambrano throw yesterday in Miami, but he’s not considered a fit for them. No need to keep that rumor alive. He’s not coming here.
Jake Arrieta is in the process of throwing his bullpen session with Triple-A Norfolk and the Orioles will provide an update later. Arrieta didn’t make his last start because of a strained right shoulder that isn’t considered serious.
