SARASOTA, Fla. – Manny Machado is starting at third base again today, but he will have a root canal later this afternoon. Manager Buck Showalter will remove him from the game after a few at-bats.
Getting Machado out of the lineup this spring has been like pulling teeth, so it seems appropriate.

Nolan Reimold threw today to test his right shoulder. Showalter indicated that Reimold needs to be able to play in the field by opening day to avoid going on the disabled list.
Showalter confirmed that Dylan Bundy will start Saturday night against the Red Sox, with Kevin Gausman pitching in relief. Nice one-two prospect punch.
Tsuyoshi Wada continues to throw bullpen sessions off a regular mound, but there are no plans to have him pitch in an exhibition game.
Wada figures to go on the 60-day disabled list late in camp to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.
The Orioles will announce their first round of cuts after today’s game. Showalter will meet with at least three players during lunch.
Showalter is waiting for catcher Allan de San Miguel to return this morning from the World Baseball Classic.
Chris Tillman is starting Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Sarasota, followed by Miguel Gonzalez. Gerrit Cole will start for the Pirates.
Updated: Reimold did some light tossing during batting practice and said his shoulder feels “a lot better.”
Reimold is expected to play left field Sunday.
“We’ve still got four weeks? I think I’ll be all right,” Reimold said. “I’m not really concerned about not being able to play the field. I’ve made a lot of progress. I’ll be able to play the field for sure.
“I’ve just got to take care of my arm and work that issue out and get back out there. There’s four weeks left and I’ll get plenty of reps in by the time camp ends.”
