The Orioles’ spring training opener in 2027 is scheduled for Feb. 19 against the Braves at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota.

The last Grapefruit League game is March 20 against the Pirates in Bradenton. The final Sarasota matchup is a day earlier versus the Yankees.

The Orioles and Nationals will play another home-and-home series when the teams return, on March 21 at Camden Yards and March 22 in D.C.

March 3 and 11 are marked as off-days for the Orioles.

The schedule includes road trips to Fort Myers (Twins) on Feb. 20 and 28, Fort Myers (Red Sox) on Feb. 25, Port Charlotte on Feb. 21 (split-squad), March 4 and March 8, Dunedin Feb. 23, Bradenton Feb. 26, March 9 and March 20, Tampa on March 5, Lakeland on March 7 (split-squad), North Port on March 13 and Clearwater on March 17.

The enhanced and expanded fan access introduced last spring at Ed Smith Stadium will continue for both home and away game dates. Access is free with entry beginning approximately four hours before the start time. A game ticket is required to enter the complex.

Times and report dates for pitchers and catchers will be announced later. The expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement on Dec. 1 could impact the camps.

The Orioles couldn’t hold onto 3-0 and 5-3 leads Wednesday in Colorado. They were ahead 3-1 last night in the fourth inning and 3-2 in the seventh. They lost both games.

The inability to finish has left the Orioles three games below .500 and 1 ½ behind the last Wild Card with three teams ahead of them.

Shane Baz earned his first win Saturday since June 12. His 14 losses are second-most in the majors behind Tanner Bibee’s 15.

Baz will try to lower his 4.01 ERA against the team that he’s faced twice this season at Fenway Park. He’s allowed a combined three earned runs and six total in 13 innings and owns a 2.47 ERA in seven career starts against the Red Sox.

Jarren Duran is 4-for-19 with a double and triple against Baz. Wilyer Abreu is 3-for-13 with a double and six strikeouts, and Ceddanne Rafaela and Trevor Story are 3-for-12.

Baz has surrendered only one home run in his last nine home starts.

The Orioles will face left-hander Ranger Suárez for the first time since pursuing him as a free agent in the offseason. He has a 4.32 ERA against them in four career starts over 25 innings.

Suárez allowed six runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings in a 16-1 loss in his last outing at Yankee Stadium. He’s averaging 5.1 innings per start, compared to 6.0 last season.

Left-handers are hitting .277/.347/.423 against Suárez this season and right-handers are hitting .232/.294/.321. Suárez has a 4.14 ERA in 11 home starts and a 3.25 ERA in 13 road games.

Pete Alonso is 3-for-21 with two doubles, nine walks and seven strikeouts against Suárez. Coby Mayo is 2-for-3 with a home run.

Mayo (1.192) and Christian Encarnacion-Strand (1.157) rank first and second, respectively, in OPS against left-handed pitching since the All-Star break in a minimum 50 plate appearances.

Though they lost last night, the Orioles are 9-6 in the second half when opponents start a southpaw, compared to 12-17 before the break. Their runs-per-game improved from 4.24 to 5.20, average from .229 to .249 and OPS from .693 to .734.
