Hyun Soo Kim would have started tonight anyway. Trumbo’s status didn’t influence the lineup.
Kim also is expected to be in Saturday’s lineup, but he may sit Sunday against Jake Odorizzi, a reverse-splits guy…

Outfielder Joey Rickard took a couple of swings today in a simulated game in Sarasota and it didn’t go well, with the Rule 5 pick cutting the session short and heading indoors. Rickard won’t be ready to come off the 60-day disabled list on Monday due to the lingering soreness in his right thumb.

The Orioles most likely will summon an outfielder from Sarasota with Rickard and Steve Pearce unable to play. The choices include Dariel Alvarez, Christian Walker, Chris Dickerson and Julio Borbon.

Alvarez and Walker are on the 40-man roster, but Showalter said the Orioles can make room if necessary. They may prefer a right-handed bat, which favors Alvarez and Walker. Alvarez is a natural outfielder, which may favor him over Walker.

Darren O’Day’s simulated game today was a success and he’s coming off the disabled list Sunday or Monday if the soreness doesn’t return in his shoulder. Playing an afternoon game on Sunday could make the Orioles wait until Monday against the Red Sox.

O’Day threw 26 pitches to Ryan Flaherty and Paul Janish.

Showalter confirmed that Wade Miley is starting Sunday.
