The Orioles are intrigued to see what the 6-foot-9 Hendrickson can do using a new sidearm delivery. He threw for the club a couple of times during the team’s mini-camp at Camden Yards before FanFest.
Pitching coach Rick Adair sounded impressed with Hendrickson and his new arm slot at FanFest.
“It’s an interesting idea and concept,” Adair said. “He adapted to what we were thinking really much better than I thought. There is something there.”
Update: According to multiple published reports, the Orioles also agreed on a minor league deal with right-hander Joel Pineiro, who was 1-0 with a 2.96 ERA in five starts with the Gulf Coast League Orioles and Triple-A Norfolk last year.
