ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Los Angeles Angels are heating up on offense just as the Orioles arrive for a three-game series beginning tonight.

While Los Angeles is under .500 at 19-22 overall, the Angels have won six of their last seven games and just took three of four from the rival Los Angeles Dodgers by 8-1 and 7-4 scores. Mike Trout went 5-for-7 with two homers and four RBIs in those wins.

Los Angeles has scored 52 runs over the last eight games for 6.5 per game. For the season, the Angels rank sixth in the AL in batting average but 10th in runs and last in homers with 36. The Orioles are second with 57, one behind Tampa Bay.

Angels hitters recently:

* In 17 games this month, Trout is batting .373 with five homers, 18 RBIs and an OPS of 1.126. He has five multi-hit games over his past six, batting .458 (11-for-24).

* Albert Pujols is batting .361 (13-for-36) with two homers and nine RBIs his last nine games.

* Johnny Giavotella has an eight-game hitting streak, batting .382 (13-for-34) during the streak.

Even though they scored just seven runs in the series against Seattle, over a longer stretch the Orioles have scored 59 runs their past 11 games.

The pitching matchup tonight features Mike Wright (2-3, 5.20 ERA) against left-hander Hector Santiago (3-2, 3.42 ERA).

Wright is coming off a strong outing and win Saturday versus Detroit. He gave up three hits and two runs over seven innings. He threw a career-high 108 pitches and he was an out away from tying his career high outing for innings pitched.

While right-handed batters are hitting just .203 off Wright in 2016, lefty batters are hitting .371 with an OPS of 1.017 against him.

Santiago is also coming off a strong outing. He tied his career-high going eight innings Sunday at Seattle. He pitched scoreless ball on just hits against the Mariners. That was some outing, which followed a three-start stretch where his ERA was 6.46. The 28-year-old Santiago has made six career appearances (three starts) against Baltimore, going 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA.

Update from last entry: Dylan Bundy won the cow milking contest. Several of his teammates were on the field to cheer him on and he immediately did a post-milking interview with MASN’s Gary Thorne.

McFarland update: An O’s official said the injury tonight to T.J. McFarland was in his knee, not quad as reported earlier. There is no other info available right now
