On May 10, 1879, Harry McCormick (0-5) of the Syracuse Stars defeated Will White (5-0) of the Cincinnati Reds. On July 15, 1954, in Game 1 of a doubleheader, Bob Buhl (0-7) of the Milwaukee Braves defeated Bob Milliken (5-0) of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

On the mound today, right-hander Tyler Wilson (3-5, 4.19 ERA) makes his 15th appearance and 12th start of the season and pitches against lefty Drew Smyly (2-7, 4.78 ERA).

Over his past two starts – against Boston and San Diego – Wilson is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA allowing two walks with 10 strikeouts over 14 innings. He has yet to win at home this year, going 0-4 with a 4.93 ERA and is winless at Camden Yards in 12 career games.

Smyly has not pitched well lately but has excellent career numbers against the Orioles. Over his past five starts this season, he is 0-2 with a 7.22 ERA and he is winless over his past six starts at 0-3. In eight road starts in 2016, he is 2-3 with a 5.13 ERA. His last win was May 16 at Toroto.

But in eight career games (five starts) against Baltimore, Smyly is 4-0 with a 1.82 ERA. In four career games at Camden Yards, he is 2-0 with an 0.82 ERA. In 32 career games (21 starts) versus the AL East, he is 11-3 with a 1.87 ERA.

The Orioles lead the majors with 30 wins at home this season. At 30-13 (.698), the Orioles own the second-best record at home in the majors and the club’s 16-8 June record ranks fifth best in the majors and fourth best in the American League.

Jonathan Schoop is batting .455 (15-for-33) with three doubles and two homers during an eight-game batting streak. Manny Machado is batting .432 (19-for-44) his last 10 games. Pedro Alvarez is batting .315 with an OPS of 1.023 in June. Adam Jones has 10 homers this month to tie for the major league lead. Matt Wieters is 10-for-20 over his past six games.
