The Orioles hit two more homers tonight. They threw in a big inning and got a mostly solid outing from Ubaldo Jimenez, as well.

That added up to a 6-4 win over the Phillies. The Orioles have won three in a row from Philadelphia, nine of their last 10 overall and 11 of 13 games. They are three games over the .500 mark for the first time in 2015 at 34-31.

Each team scored once in the first inning. Chris Parmelee hit a 90 mph cutter from Kevin Correia for another homer and a 1-0 lead. It was his third homer in two games and seven at-bats as an Oriole. He had hit six in 234 at-bats for Triple-A Norfolk.

The O’s broke the 1-1 tie with a four-run fourth inning. Philadelphia aided the rally, as Travis Snider led off the inning and reached on an error by shortstop Freddy Galvis before Parmelee walked. Handed a rally, the Orioles took advantage. A Matt Wieters single made it 2-1, David Lough later added a two-run double and Jimenez drove in a run with a swinging bunt single to third base.

jimenez-stride-pitching-gray-sidebar.jpgOver his past five games, Lough has two homers and six RBIs – and that is in just 11 at-bats. He is 4-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Snider’s solo homer in the fifth made it a 6-1 lead. He hit a 2-0 changeup well over the right field wall. It was his second of the year and first since April 12. Snider now has seven RBIs his past eight games.

So the Orioles have hit 10 homers the last two games and 19 in the last seven games.

Down 6-1 with one out in the seventh, the Phillies got back-to-back singles ahead of a Galvis homer to get back in the game. Galvis’ three-run shot on a 2-1 slider, just his second homer of 2015, made it a 6-4 game.

Jimenez went 6 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits and four runs (three earned) with no walks and eight strikeouts. He is now 5-3 with an ERA of 3.27. Out of the bullpen tonight, Chaz Roe and Brian Matusz got two outs each and Zach Britton pitched the ninth for his 18th save in 19 chances.

The Orioles bullpen has pitched 18 2/3 scoreless innings over the last six games and has allowed just one over 30 2/3 innings in the past nine games.

The Phillies fall to 22-45 on the year and have lost nine in a row and 12 of their last 13 games. The Phillies were 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position tonight. Over their last six games, they are 3-for-44 (.088) with RISP.

In the last game of this two-game series and of four in a row between these clubs on Thursday afternoon, Bud Norris (2-4, 8.29 ERA) faces right-hander Sean O’Sullivan (1-5, 5.08 ERA) at 1:05 p.m.
