In a game played in the rain and wind in New York, the Orioles ended a ten-game losing streak vs. the Yankees with a 10-4 win. The O’s also ended a ten-game losing streak in New York.
The game was delayed an hour and 24 minutes at the start and for another hour and seven minutes in the top of the seventh. The contest ended at 1:28 AM Saturday morning.

Brian Roberts had three RBI on the night. His two-run single in the 6th gave the O’s their first lead at 5-4 and Cesar Izturis added an RBI single for 6-4 while Nolan Reimold’s sac fly provided a three-run lead.
The O’s top three hitters – Roberts, Izturis and Nick Markakis – were a combined 5 for 13 with 7 RBI and four runs scored.
Winning pitcher Chris Tillman improved to 2-3, 4.91. He gave up four runs over five innings with a season-high eight strikeouts. Mark Hendrickson pitched the final three innings to earn his first Major League save.
Andy Pettitte, a career 26-game winner vs. Baltimore, did not get a decision, allowing three runs over five frames. Damaso Marte, 1-2, took the loss.
Derek Jeter’s single in the third gave him 2,722 hits, as he broke the tie with Lou Gehrig atop the Yankees’ all-time hits list. Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run homer in the first inning.
In beating the team with the best record in the Majors, the O’s snapped New York’s seven-game home win streak.
The Orioles won for the just the fifth time this year in 27 AL East road games.
