News broke yesterday that Ohman had narrowed his choices to three American League teams. The Orioles bowed out once it became clear that Ohman could haul in this type of deal. Pedro Viola and Troy Patton remain longshots to make the club. They’re more likely to be optioned to Triple-A Norfolk before the opener.

Ohman had to settle for a minor league contract and a spring training invitation last spring. He posted a 3.30 ERA in 51 games with the Orioles and a 3.00 ERA in 17 games with the Marlins after being traded for Rick VandenHurk.

Ohman set a club record by appearing in 51 games without posting a decision. Mike Flanagan held the previous record at 42 games in 1992.
