I don’t have much for you this morning beyond a reminder that the Orioles must set their 40-man roster later today. They currently have two openings.
Once the roster is finalized, they can’t add another player from within the organization. However, they can add anyone who’s acquired via free agency or trade.
That’s eventually going to happen. I swear.
I’ll pass along the changes whenever the Orioles make the announcement.

Once the roster is finalized, they can’t add another player from within the organization. However, they can add anyone who’s acquired via free agency or trade.
That’s eventually going to happen. I swear.
I’ll pass along the changes whenever the Orioles make the announcement.
The Orioles have made offers to a few free agents while attempting to fill out their bench. They’re waiting for a utility infielder and backup catcher to take the bait. Maybe it happens today.
Also, I heard earlier this week that the Orioles were close to signing another six-year minor league free agent. The paper work hadn’t been completed. Maybe it happens today.
I exchanged text messages yesterday with Luke Scott, who was in the woods on another hunting trip. The shoulder is fine.
MLBTradeRumors projected earlier this month that Scott would receive $6 million in arbitration if he’s tendered a contract and the two sides can’t reach an agreement. Scott made $6.4 million this season, when he batted .220 with nine homers and 22 RBIs in 64 games.
He remains a non-tender candidate, though the Orioles could attempt to re-sign him at a lower cost. He would be a candidate to fill or share the DH spot, depending on other moves made this winter.
Could you live with a Scott/Nolan Reimold platoon in left field or at DH?
That decision won’t happen today. I’m just floating it out there for debate.
