It won’t go down as a quality start by definition, but Jeremy Guthrie deserves some props for giving the Orioles six good innings and one unfortunate one.
All the scoring against him took place in the fourth, and he left after the seventh with the Yankees ahead, 4-1. He allowed six hits, walked two, struck out two and threw 116 pitches.
If only he could take a mulligan on that Randy Winn at-bat.

Ty Wigginton didn’t do him any favors in the fourth, but you simply cannot let Winn beat you.
Down on the farm, Double-A Bowie’s Tim Bascom allowed three runs and six hits in six innings against Harrisburg, with one walk and two strikeouts.
Single-A Frederick left-hander Cole McCurry surrendered five runs (four earned) and six hits in 3 2/3 innings against Winston-Salem, with one walk and seven strikeouts.
Single-A Delmarva’s Jesse Beal, a 14th-round pick in the 2008 draft, held Savannah to one unearned run and six hits in six innings, with no walks and two strikeouts.
Triple-A Norfolk lefty Pedro Viola, claimed off waivers from the Reds, allowed four runs and four hits, with a walk and two strikeouts, in two-thirds of an inning. His ERA soared to 18.90.
This guy has more upside than Wilfrido Perez? Is he hiding it in his sock drawer?
