Orioles add three to 40-man roster

The Orioles today announced that they have added left-handed pitcher Zach Britton, infielder Joe Mahoney and outfielder Matt Angle to their 40-man Major League roster.
Britton, 22, was named the 2010 Jim Palmer Award winner as the Orioles’ top minor league pitcher after going 10-7 with a 2.70 ERA in 26 starts between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk. He allowed 139 hits in 153.1 innings pitched, while striking out 124 and walking 51. He allowed 139 hits in 153.1 innings pitched, while striking out 124 and walking 51. Britton, the Orioles’ 3rd round pick in the 2006 draft, was also named to the Double-A Eastern League’s All-Star Team.
Mahoney, 23, was the winner of the 2010 Brooks Robinson Award as the Orioles’ top minor league position player. He hit .307 (142-462) with 18 home runs and 78 RBI in 124 games between Class-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie. Mahoney was selected by the Orioles in the 6th round of the 2007 draft.
Angle, 24, batted .278 (114-410), scored 66 runs and stole 29 bases in 101 games between Double-A Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk. He hit .338 (23-60) in 14 games with the Baysox before being promoted to Norfolk on May 29. Angle was the Orioles’ 7th round selection in the 2007 draft.
With the three additions, the Orioles’ 40-man roster stands at 35.
