No announcement has been made, but the Orioles have agreed to terms with infielder Cesar Izturis on a 1-year contract.
The deal will become official once Izturis passes his physical.
Izturis apparently will compete for the utility job along with newly acquired Brendan Harris, while J.J. Hardy is penciled in as the everyday shortstop.
Earlier this week, President Andy MacPhail stated after confirming the Hardy/Harris deal that he would continue negotiations with Izturis’ agent.

Update: I was able to gather more facts on the signing after returning home. By the way, stay off the roads.
The deal is for $1.5 million, plus incentives. Izturis has a roster spot waiting for him. Harris and Robert Andino will fight for the other utility spot.
Izturis gives the Orioles nice insurance in the middle infield. Harris and Andino provide more offensively and can help at the corners.
I’m told that Izturis, according to his agent, had more lucrative offers on the table.
