The Orioles are facing a left-hander today, the Angels’ Tyler Anderson, which again puts them at a statistical disadvantage.

The team is hitting .178/.257/.245 against lefties this season.

Manager Brandon Hyde lowered Cedric Mullins to eighth and is batting Gunnar Henderson leadoff.

Mullins moved down to sixth in the order last night and went 0-for-4 to increase his slump to one hit in his last 34 at-bats. He’s 0-for-19.

Mullins still needs one RBI for 300 in his career. Henderson needs one for 200.

Jackson Holliday is batting sixth. He’s 9-for-25 (.360) this month with a double, two home runs and 1.069 OPS, and he’s 16-for-45 (.355) beginning April 23.

Holliday posted a .185 average against fastballs earlier this season but is hitting .500 in his last 16 games.

Tyler O’Neill is playing right field and batting second, Adley Rutschman is the designated hitter and cleanup hitter, and Ramón Laureano is in left field and batting fifth.

The Orioles are the best team in the majors when ahead in the count with a .369 average, but they’re hitting .167 when behind to rank 27th, per STATS.

Zach Eflin was reinstated from the injured list and makes his first start today since April 7 in Arizona, as the Orioles close out their road trip and try for their second win in six games.

Eflin has a career 2.37 ERA in five starts against the Angels, but he’s allowed six runs and 13 hits in 11 innings in two starts in Anaheim.

Travis d’Arnaud is 7-for-22 with three home runs lifetime against Eflin. Taylor Ward is 4-for-9. Logan O’Hoppe is 0-for-8 with five strikeouts.

Reliever Colin Selby was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk after tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings last night in a 5-2 loss.

Left-hander Trevor Rogers returned from his rehab assignment, was reinstated from the injured list and optioned to Norfolk.

Anderson has registered a 2.68 ERA and 1.041 WHIP in seven starts. He’s allowed 27 hits in 40 1/3 innings.

Right-handers are batting .249 with a .733 OPS against Anderson in his career and left-handers are batting .257 with a .765 OPS. This season, right-handers are hitting .155/.239/.259 and left-handers are hitting .290/.353/.774.

Anderson has made two career starts against the Orioles and allowed five runs and 10 hits in 10 innings. Henderson is 3-for-4 with a double and home run. Tyler O’Neill is 3-for-5 with two homers.

Emmanuel Rivera, who singled again last night, is 2-for-11. He’s at third base again today.
