OAKLAND – The Orioles will try to win the series this afternoon while they also complete their West Coast trip, saying goodbye to the Oakland Coliseum for the last time.
They also want to avoid a second series loss to the Athletics this season.
Heston Kjerstad is in left field and Cedric Mullins is in center. Colton Cowser is on the bench.
Ryan O’Hearn is playing first base. Ryan Mountcastle is the designated hitter, moving down to seventh in the order.
Ramón Urías is playing third base again, with Jordan Westburg at second.
Grayson Rodriguez seeks his 11th win. He’s made 15 starts and registered a 3.45 ERA and 1.218 WHIP in 88 2/3 innings.
Rodriguez has allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts. He blanked the Mariners over 6 1/3 on Tuesday.
Rodriguez made his only career start against the Athletics on April 11, 2023, his second major league appearance, and allowed five runs and six hits with four walks and six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Brent Rooker is 2-for-2 against him.
Rookie right-hander Mitch Spence has a 4.15 ERA and 1.249 WHIP in 20 games, including nine starts. He moved into the rotation on May 17.
The Orioles remember him. He tossed three scoreless and hitless relief innings on April 26 at Camden Yards.
