A day after being no-hit for eight innings by Guardians left-hander Parker Messick, the Orioles will try to get back to .500 against right-hander Tanner Bibee.

No one said it was going to be easy.

Easier than Messick, perhaps, but still a challenge.

Dylan Beavers is batting fourth as the designated hitter, with Colton Cowser playing right field.

Leody Taveras stays in center field. Coby Mayo is the third baseman and Jeremiah Jackson remains at second base.

Chris Bassitt is making his fourth start with the Orioles. He’s allowed 11 earned runs (12 total) and 19 hits in 11 innings, with seven walks and five strikeouts.

Bassitt has made seven career starts against the Guardians and posted a 3.95 ERA in 41 innings. He’s allowed five runs in 16 innings at Progressive Field.

Bo Naylor is 2-for-3 with two home runs against Bassitt.

Orioles pitchers have produced a 28.1 percent whiff rate that’s seventh in the majors. The Guardians have the fourth-best contact rate at 77 percent.

Bibee has allowed 13 runs and 24 hits in 18 1/3 innings in his four starts this season. The numbers inflated in his last start, when he surrendered eight runs and 11 hits 4 2/3 innings in Atlanta.

Bibee has made three career starts against the Orioles and allowed 10 earned runs (13 total) in 18 2/3 innings.

Gunnar Henderson is 4-for-9 with two doubles and a home run. Taveras, who broke up last night’s no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the ninth, is 3-for-8.

Matt Holliday provided an update on his son, Jackson, during an episode of Foul Territory. Jackson was recalled from his injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk due to soreness in his right wrist.

Jackson is expected to begin a new assignment with High-A Frederick.

“He had some soreness on the opposite side, which, sometimes you kind of compensate with some stuff, so his wrist on the opposite side got a little bit sore,” Matt said. “He went back to Baltimore and got some reassurance that everything was fine and he just had some inflammation on the other side of his wrist, and so, taking some anti-inflammatories.

“He’s gonna get back on rehab. I think he’s gonna go to Frederick, maybe today. I don’t know if he’s playing tonight, maybe tomorrow and Sunday, and then reevaluate. Every minor league team’s off Monday. Possibly back to Norfolk for Tuesday and Wednesday and then kind of see where they’re at.

“He’s working his way back. Obviously, don’t want to rush it, make sure he feels strong and ready. … I think it’s just being cautious with the wrist and making sure when he does get activated that he’s 100 percent confident where he’s at physically so he can get out there and compete at the highest level that he can.”

Matt had just talked to his son a few minutes before the segment.

“There’s just little hiccups here and there, but he’s close and feeling good,” Matt said.

“I think he’s getting excited about where he’s at.”

Update: The Keys announced that Holliday will join them for games on Saturday and Sunday.
