Also, two Baltimore high schools will compete tomorrow for the title of best in baseball at the championship of the inaugural President’s Cup tournament at Camden Yards.
The event begins at 9 a.m., when the Gilman plays Friends at Mount. St. Joe. Boys’ Latin and Mount. St. Joe will play at the same time at Swann Park. The winners will compete for the title of President’s Cup Champion at 1 p.m. at Camden Yards.
Hall of Famer Frank Robinson will join Geraldine Day, widow of former Negro League star and Hall of Famer Leon Day, to simultaneously throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
“I am very pleased to attend the championship game of The President’s Cup,” Robinson said in a statement. “Baltimore has always been very special to me because of all my time there, when I was privileged to be a part of two World Championship clubs as a player and then to serve as the manager and an executive with the Orioles. The people of Baltimore have always made their city a wonderful setting for baseball.”
