The Orioles began their three-city West Coast trip last night with a 3-1 loss in Seattle. They’ve dropped three in a row and are 34-40 overall and 12-21 on the road.
The outcome left the Orioles 1 ½ games behind the third-place Blue Jays, 11 ½ out of first place and 2 ½ back in the Wild Card.
Blaze Alexander stays at third base tonight, Leody Taveras is in center field and Tyler O’Neill is in right.
Samuel Basallo is the designated hitter. Basallo drove in his 30th run last night, doubling his 2025 total. His 30 RBIs are ninth most among qualified major league rookies.
Kyle Bradish has a 4.30 ERA and 1.568 WHIP in 14 starts. He’s followed an impressive stretch in May with 10 runs and 16 hits allowed in two starts this month totaling only eight innings. He’s walked six batters and struck out eight, and he surrendered a career-high three homers in his last outing against the Mariners.
Cole Young, Luke Raley and Dominic Canzone took Bradish deep at Camden Yards. Bradish was charged with five runs and seven hits in four innings.
Bradish allowed two runs in six innings in his only career start at T-Mobile Park.
The Orioles have scored at least one run in their first 74 games, the third-longest season-opening streak in franchise history behind 2007 (133) and 1978 (77).
Mariners right-hander George Kirby has posted a 4.07 ERA in 14 starts. He faced the Orioles last Wednesday and allowed three runs and six hits with 10 strikeouts in six innings.
