Hyde said Núñez has a sore leg and the intent was keeping him available as the designated hitter. Núñez is batting third, as he did last night.

Left-hander John Means posted a 2.81 ERA and 1.169 WHIP in eight games (four starts) in April and a 2.79 ERA and 1.034 WHIP in five starts in May. None of the current Rangers have faced him.

Minor has a 2.74 ERA and 1.189 WHIP in 12 starts. He’s averaging 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings.

Minor has made five appearances, including two starts, against the Orioles in his career and posted a 4.15 ERA and 0.846 WHIP in 13 innings.

The current Orioles are 1-for-13 against Minor. Davis is 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.

According to STATS, last night marked only the ninth time since 1920 that one teammate recorded at least three home runs (Pedro Severino) and another notched at least six RBIs (Dwight Smith Jr.) in the same game. Severino is catching tonight and Smith is in left field.

The Royals selected Means’ younger brother, Indiana State infielder Jake Means, in the 22nd round of the draft.
