The Orioles filed out of Globe Life Field last night two games back for the final Wild Card after a 2-1 loss to the Rangers. Shane Baz threw an eight-inning complete game with nine strikeouts, but Joc Pederson’s two-run homer in the sixth made the difference.
The Twins and Guardians are a half-game behind the Rangers for the third spot.
Jackson Holliday is batting third again tonight, followed by designated hitter Tyler O’Neill and left fielder Dylan Beavers.
Christian Encarnacion-Strand is playing third base, Colton Cowser is in center field and Carlos Narváez is catching.
Kyle Bradish has gone 4 2/3 and three innings in his last two starts, with seven runs and 12 hits allowed.
Bradish has made three career starts against the Rangers and allowed two runs in 13 1/3 innings. He’s surrendered one run in 6 2/3 innings in Texas.
The Orioles went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position last night and are 3-for-22 in six games this month. They’re 10-18 in one-run games this season.
Jacob deGrom has posted a 3.96 ERA in 21 starts, with 135 strikeouts over 113 2/3 innings. He struggled in his last outing, allowing five runs and seven hits with five walks in 3 1/3 innings in Houston. He faced the Orioles in his first start of the season and allowed three runs and six hits with seven strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings at Camden Yards.
