Update: Reimold continues to downplay the soreness in his right shoulder that caused him to leave yesterday’s game after homering in the second inning.
“It shouldn’t be very long,” he said. “I can swing, I can do everything. It’s just that I don’t want to do something stupid in spring training.
“It probably wouldn’t have been anything if I didn’t have an at-bat and then come out.”
In other words, he wouldn’t be getting the media attention right now. Plenty of guys come down with tender shoulders in camp and back off a few days. Reimold just got noticed because he exited after two innings and he underwent surgery in June.
Cool clubhouse scene this morning: Players gathered in front of each television to watch Jonathan Schoop’s first at-bat for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic. Schoop struck out swinging.
Update II: Schoop went 0-for-3 with a walk and a hit by pitch in the Netherlands’ 5-0 win over Korea.
