The Orioles are forced to play a doubleheader today due to the gnarly forecast in New York over the next two days. And they’re no longer in the Wild Card chase.

The Game 1 lineup has Dylan Beavers leading off and playing right field, with Christian Franklin in left.

Coby Mayo is the designated hitter. Jeremiah Jackson is playing second base. Carlos Narváez is catching.

Trevor Rogers, last year’s Most Valuable Oriole, brings a 4.07 ERA into his 30th start. This month, he’s allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings in Colorado, one run in 7 1/3 innings against the Guardians, and most recently, one run and three hits with 10 strikeouts in eight innings against the Brewers.

The Orioles lost 1-0.

Rogers faced the Yankees on May 12 in Baltimore and surrendered six runs in four innings. He owns a 6.41 ERA and 1.475 WHIP against them in five starts. He’s made two starts at Yankee Stadium and allowed six runs in six innings.

Ethan Anderson is on the catcher taxi squad. He replaces Creed Willems and gets some exposure to major league life.

MLB Pipeline ranks Anderson as the No. 16 prospect in the system.

This is the 15th time that the Orioles are finishing their regular season against the Yankees, the most against any opponent.

The Orioles recorded their fourth series sweep since the break against the Blue Jays. The Rays (seven) and Red Sox (five) are the only American League teams with more sweeps in the second half.

Yankees rookie right-hander Brendan Beck, a second-round draft pick in 2021 out of Stanford, is making his second major league start and fourth appearance. He’s allowed seven runs and seven hits with five walks and four homers in 7 2/3 innings.

A reminder that the Yankees already clinched the top Wild Card and have nothing else to play for until the postseason.

Beck’s first start was on July 4 against the Twins. He allowed five runs, including three homers, in 3 2/3 innings. He retired all three batters face in the ninth inning in his most recent appearance in Game 2 of an Aug. 29 doubleheader against the Red Sox.

The Yankees haven’t announced their Game 2 starter. The Orioles are starting Brandon Young
