He has played the position more than any other in his career (811 out of 1,055 games), but has only made two appearances at that spot in four innings over two games this season.

That allows Jimmy Paredes to play third base, as he gets his first start since Friday.

The Orioles were shut out last night for the 11th time this season. They’re 8-2 in the next game after being blanked.

The Orioles haven’t been shut out 12 times in a season since 2004.

Ubaldo Jimenez is 1-4 with a 5.79 ERA in six career starts against the Yankees. He’s 1-2 with a 4.24 ERA in four starts in the Bronx.

Mark Teixeira returns to the Yankees lineup. He’s 2-for-19 (.105) against Jimenez. Chris Young is 8-for-43 (.186).

Orioles third basemen have committed four errors in the past four games. They needed to tighten it up at the hot corner.
