The Orioles Charitable Foundation today announced community grants to Jubilee Arts and Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA). These grants are a result of charitable funds raised during the Athletes & Artists Play for Kids fundraiser held the evening before the historic, first-ever concert at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, featuring Billy Joel.

The Orioles are committed to supporting arts education, hosting a collection of Athletes & Artists Play for Kids events throughout the season in both Baltimore and their year-round training home of Sarasota, Fla. This year’s fundraiser in Baltimore took place on July 25 and featured performances by Yesterday’s Wine (featuring Wyatt Durrette and Levi Lowery) and Queen V. Earlier this year in Sarasota, March 1-3, Athletes & Artists Play for Kids Weekend featured a concert by Cole Swindell and a fundraising event to benefit children featuring performances by Desmond Child, Matt McGinn, Ryan Beaver, MacKenzie Porter, Carter Faith and Margaret Valentine. The Orioles have hosted five Athletes & Artists Play for Kids fundraising events since 2016.

Jubilee Arts provides programming in dance, visual arts, creative writing and ceramics to bring arts back to life in the community. Jubilee Arts is part of Intersection of Change, a community-based nonprofit focused on community development in west Baltimore. The organization is dedicated to providing programs that enrich the economic, social, and spiritual lives of those dealing with poverty-related issues in the Sandtown-Winchester and surrounding communities.

Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA) serves the community through TWIGS, a free after-school and Saturday arts program that assists more than 700 Baltimore City children in grades 2-8 each year. TWIGS offers free classes in dance, vocal and instrumental music, stage production and design, visual arts and visual storytelling.
