Bundy, 19, had been throwing in the instructional league before the Orioles contacted him early this morning with instructions to meet them in Seattle following their 18-inning win over the Mariners.

When he makes his first appearance, Bundy will be the first Oriole to debut before his 20th birthday since right-hander Mike Adamson on July 1, 1967. Adamson was 19 years, 291…The Orioles just sent out a press release confirming that they have recalled pitcher Dylan Bundy from Double-A Bowie.

When he makes his first appearance, Bundy will be the first Oriole to debut before his 20th birthday since right-hander Mike Adamson on July 1, 1967. Adamson was 19 years, 291 days old. Bundy is 19 years, 309 days.

Bundy, the fourth-overall pick in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, went a combined 9-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 23 starts and 103 2/3 innings with Single-A Delmarva, Single-A Frederick and Bowie. He walked 28 and struck out 119.

Bundy, who recently was chosen to Baseball America’s Minor League All-Star Team, began the year with Delmarva and went 1-0 in eight starts without allowing an earned run in 30 innings. Bundy was 6-3 with a 2.84 ERA in 12 starts with Frederick and went 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in three starts with Bowie. Bundy earned the win in Game One of the Eastern League playoffs over Akron on Sept. 5, allowing one earned run over 6 innings and striking out seven.

The Orioles’ first-round pick in 2010, Manny Machado, already has joined the club and is entrenched as the everyday third baseman.

Bundy and Machado will be the first Orioles age 20 or younger to debut in the same season since outfielder Paul Blair and left-hander Frank Bertaina in 1964.

Update: Now for the important stuff. Bundy will wear No. 49.
