Wasdin, 47, joins first base coach/outfield instructor Arnie Beyeler and assistant hitting coach Howie Clark, who learned yesterday that their contracts wouldn’t be renewed.
All three coaches were working on one-year deals after the Orioles hired Brandon Hyde as manager in December.

Bullpen coach John Wasdin has been notified that he won’t be invited back in 2020, according to a source.

All three coaches were working on one-year deals after the Orioles hired Brandon Hyde as manager in December.

Adjustments to the coaching staff were anticipated after the season, the only question being how many individuals would be impacted.

Pitching coach Doug Brocail, hitting coach Don Long, major league field coordinator/catching instructor Tim Cossins, third base coach José Flores and major league coach José Hernandez have been invited back. It’s unclear whether there could be movement within the ranks that would change titles and roles.

The Orioles are expected to begin interviewing candidates for the three openings next week.

Wasdin made 26 relief appearances with the Orioles in 2001. He served as minor league pitching coordinator in 2017-18 before Chris Holt replaced him.

The move to bullpen coach provided a replacement for Alan Mills, who completed his first season as manager in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League. Mills will return next year in the same role.

Clark was the only holdover from former manager Buck Showalter’s staff. Hernandez also was in the organization as a coach at Triple-A Norfolk.

Meanwhile, the Orioles are close to completing their minor league coaching staffs, another task that’s kept them busy during the postseason.
