BOSTON – The Orioles will remain tied with the 2008 Astros for most errorless games in a season since 1900.
The record still stands at 113 after two Orioles miscues in the bottom of the fourth inning tonight led to an unearned run off Scott Feldman. The Orioles now trail the Red Sox 2-1 after Brian Roberts’ RBI grounder in the top of the fifth.
Feldman is creating his own problems with a season-high five walks and 88 pitches in four innings. T.J. McFarland was warming in the bullpen.

The Orioles haven’t committed more than two errors in a game this season, but they matched that total tonight in an odd fourth inning.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia reached with one out when Manny Machado, stationed in shallow right field as part of the familiar infield shift, charged the ball and overran it. Stephen Drew walked and the Red Sox pulled off a double steal when Machado failed to tag Saltalamacchia.
No error given to Machado on that play, but Matt Wieters’ throw arrived in plenty of time.
Xander Bogaerts followed with a sinking liner that clanked off left fielder Nate McLouth’s glove for his first error this season. Bogaerts was credited with a sacrifice fly. Not sure I’ve seen that one before tonight.
Two errors and a missed tag. Not the kind of baseball normally associated with the Orioles this season.
Feldman has allowed two runs (one earned) and two hits in four innings, with five walks, two strikeouts and a home run. He’s thrown 88 pitches, 48 for strikes.
Feldman’s season-low is 4 1/3 innings in his second start with the Cubs this season. He went 4 2/3 innings with the Orioles on Aug. 3.
Chris Davis has struck out twice, raising his season total to 184.
J.J. Hardy doubled in the fifth, making him 4-for-34 against Ryan Dempster.
Danny Valencia has walked in both plate appearances. He scored in the fifth inning on Roberts’ grounder after taking third base on Hardy’s double.
Machado popped up to end the inning and slammed his bat to the ground on his way to first base. A frustrating night for the kid.
The Orioles are fortunate to only be down by a run. This game easily could have gotten away from them.
