The Orioles finally made their roster move official tonight, activating Taylor Teagarden from the 15-day disabled list and designating Chris Snyder for assignment in a swap of backup catchers.
Teagarden, 29, went on the DL on April 28 with a dislocated left thumb after appearing in four games and going 0-for-13. He threw out one of two runners attempting to steal.
Teagarden appeared in three injury-rehab games at Triple-A Norfolk, catching twice and serving as the designated hitter.

Snyder, 32, went 2-for-17 in six games with the Orioles and caught Kevin Gausman on Sunday, when the rookie held the Tigers to one run over six innings. The Orioles were 4-1 in his five starts.
The Orioles acquired Snyder from the Angels for minor league pitcher Rob Delaney following Teagarden’s injury.
Snyder can decline an outright assignment to Norfolk. The Orioles want to keep him in the organization to improve their catching depth.
Earlier today, the Orioles released catcher Jose Gil to make room for reliever Jon Rauch on Norfolk’s roster. They still have Luis Exposito and Chris Robinson catching for the Tides.
Also, outfielder Nick Markakis will miss the next two games while attending his grandmother’s funeral. The Orioles must decide whether to play a man short or place Markakis on three-day bereavement leave and call up a replacement.
