Melky Cabrera capped the scoring with a two-run scoring after Craig Tatum was called for catcher’s interference.
Earlier in the inning, left fielder Nolan Reimold threw to the wrong base on a single, allowing the Royals to put a second runner in scoring position. The fundamentals were lacking that inning.
Reimold more than redeemed himself with a home run in the bottom of the second. Two of Reimold’s three hits since being called up are home runs.
Update: Reimold’s having quite an afternoon. His three-run homer has the given a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
A Mark Reynolds single had cut the Kansas City lead to 4-2 before Reimold came to the plate.
The rally was sparked by another bunt single by Adam Jones, who continues to find ways to get on base.
