Simon was good tonight. Ervin Santana was better.
In two starts, Simon has allowed four runs and nine hits in 13 2/3 innings. That’s two quality starts for Simon. The Orioles have to keep giving him the ball every five days.
Down on the farm, Ryan Adams hit his fifth home run tonight for Triple-A Norfolk.
Double-A Bowie’s LJ Hoes, playing left field tonight, is 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. He’s batting .312.
Update: Vernon Wells hit a grand slam off Kevin Gregg with two outs in the ninth to give the Angels a 6-1 lead. All four runs are unearned after Derrek Lee booted Mike Trout’s ground ball to begin the inning.
The Orioles’ only run scored on J.J. Hardy’s two-out single in the eighth. Mark Reynolds walked and Felix Pie reached on an infield hit with one out.
