Outfielder Enrique Bradfield Jr., the Orioles’ first-round draft pick in 2023, highlights their list of spring training invites.

Twenty-six non-roster players will report to the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota – 10 right-handers, two left-handers, four catchers, five infielders and five outfielders. Other players could be added later if the Orioles finalize another minor league contract.

Infielder Terrin Vavra is the most recent example, agreeing to terms yesterday on a minor league deal with a spring invitation.

Bradfield is the No. 6 prospect in the organization, according to Baseball America. MLB Pipeline’s final 2024 ranks placed Bradfield fourth.

The Orioles summoned Bradfield from the Twin Lakes side last spring, and he played in the Spring Breakout game.

Catcher Samuel Basallo, chosen by Baseball America as the top prospect in the system and ranked 13th in baseball by MLB Pipeline, received another invite. He reported last year with an elbow injury that restricted him to rehabbing and later serving as designated hitter.

Other prospects include outfielders Dylan Beavers, the 33rd overall selection in 2022 and Jud Fabian, the 67th pick in the same draft. Baseball America ranks Beavers seventh in the system and MLB Pipeline had him sixth. Fabian is ninth and 10th, respectively.

Infielder Liván Soto will be back after the Orioles outrighted him. Reliever Matt Bowman also will report after signing a minor league deal.

Twenty non-roster players were invited last spring, including Jackson Holliday, Coby Mayo, Albert Suárez, Cade Povich, Chayce McDermott and Luis González, who are on the 40-man roster. Daniel Johnson was the only outfielder, and he’s no longer in the organization.

Pitchers and catchers report on Wednesday. The first full-squad workout is Feb. 18.

The exhibition opener is Feb. 22 against the Pirates at Ed Smith Stadium.
