Moyer Released: Veteran left-hander Jamie Moyer has requested and been granted his release from the organization this afternoon, exercising the opt-out clause in his contract.
The Orioles don’t need a fifth starter until next Saturday, so there was no need to purchase his contract from Triple-A Norfolk. The 49-year-old went 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA in three starts with the Tides. He walked none and struck out 16 in 16 innings.
