The Orioles are four games behind the team they’re hosting today for the final Wild Card.

Big series? There are no small ones.

Six consecutive losses have moved the Orioles six games below .500.

Blaze Aleander is in right field today against the Guardians, Coby Mayo is the third baseman, Samuel Basallo is catching and Rece Hinds is in center field.

The Royals’ Jac Caglianone and Salvador Perez have driven in a combined 66 runs since the break. The next-highest total in the American League belongs to Christian Encarnacion-Strand (31) and Pete Alonso (29).

The Orioles have scored multiple runs in 24 straight games against the Guardians, their longest active streak against any opponent, per STATS. The Dodgers are next with 23.

The one run scored by the Orioles in their last three games is tied for their second-lowest September total in that span after the 2015 team.

Seventeen of outfielder Rece Hinds’ 22 career major league hits have gone for extra bases, including yesterday’s double in his Orioles debut.

Left-hander Trevor Rogers struck out a career-high 11 batters in his last start in Colorado. He allowed five earned runs and six total in five innings against the Guardians on April 19 at Progressive Field. José Ramírez homered twice.

Rogers has a 6.91 ERA in three career starts against the Guardians totaling 14 1/3 innings.

Rogers has registered a 2.58 ERA in his last six home starts, all of them quality. Opponents have a .580 OPS.

Joey Cantillo is the fourth left-hander to oppose the Orioles in the last five games.

Cantillo is 9-8 with a 3.81 ERA and 1.475 WHIP in 29 starts. His 72 walks in 141 2/3 innings are most in the American League. Seven of those walks came in six innings in Anaheim on Aug. 26, but he allowed only two earned runs and two hits.

The Orioles saw Cantillo on April 19 in Cleveland and scored three earned runs and four total with five hits in 4 2/3 innings. Taylor Ward hit his first Orioles homer, a three-run shot in the fifth.

Cantillo owns a 4.91 ERA and 1.500 in five career games (three starts) against the Orioles covering only 14 2/3 innings. He’s made two relief appearances at Camden Yards totaling one inning.

Colton Cowser is 2-for-4 against Cantillo.

Cantillo is one of his active Hawaiian-born players in the majors. Orioles reliever Rico Garcia is on that list.

The Guardians are 73-71 overall and 37-32 on the road. They won three of four against the Orioles in Cleveland, where Craig Albernaz served as bench coach and associate manager before the Orioles hired him as manager.

Cleveland has a minus-14 run differential. The offense has produced 134 home runs, fewest in the American League and 29th in the majors. A .684 OPS is 28th in the majors. The pitching staff’s 3.75 ERA is seventh.
