The Orioles have reached their 162nd game of the season if the weather permits it. They’re 79-82 and one game ahead of the Blue Jays for fourth place in the division.

Gunnar Henderson is back in the lineup and batting third. Heston Kjerstad is in right field in his first appearance in the lineup since Sept. 14.

Dylan Beavers moves over to left field. Carlos Narváez is catching.

Shane Baz makes his 32nd start. He allowed five earned runs and six total in 5 2/3 innings on May 4 at Yankee Stadium, and three runs with 10 strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings against New York on Aug. 18 at Camden Yards.

Baz is 0-3 with a 6.48 ERA and 1.740 WHIP in eight career starts against the Yankees, and he’s allowed six earned runs (seven total) with 12 walks in 11 2/3 innings in the Bronx.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is 5-for-12 with a double and home run against Baz. Austin Wells is 3-for-8 with a homer. Ben Rice is 0-for-9 with four strikeouts.

The Yankees are giving the ball to rookie right-hander Elmer Rodríguez, a fourth-round draft pick of the Red Sox in 2021. They traded him to the Yankees in December 2024 for Narváez, who came to the Orioles in the Adley Rutschman deal.

Rodríguez, who pitched for Puerto Rico on the World Baseball Classic, has made six starts and allowed 16 runs with 16 walks in 26 2/3 innings. He is seeking his first major league win.

Rodríguez made 21 starts in Triple-A and posted a 2.45 ERA. He has a 2.56 ERA in five minor league seasons.

MLB Pipeline ranks him as the Yankees’ No. 2 prospect.

Note to Baz: Ben Rice is hitting .301 and slugging .669 with 24 home runs against fastballs this season.
