Reliever Jacob Webb was reinstated from the paternity list this morning after the birth of daughter Hudson, and the Orioles optioned left-hander Nick Vespi to Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles play their second game of the season this afternoon with Gunnar Henderson leading off again.
Ryan O’Hearn is the designated hitter and Jordan Westburg is playing second base.
Ramón Urías stays at third base.
Grayson Rodriguez broke camp as the No. 2 starter. He allowed five runs and 16 hits with eight walks and 10 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings.
Rodriguez made two starts against the Angels last season and allowed 10 runs and 16 hits 9 1/3 innings. But eight runs and nine hits were surrendered over 3 1/3 innings in a May 15 start at Camden Yards. Chad Wallach and Shohei Ohtani hit home runs in the fourth.
The rematch on Sept. 4 in Anaheim was much different, with Rodriguez surrendering two runs and striking out seven batters in six innings. Randal Grichuk homered in the fourth.
The Angels are starting right-hander Griffin Canning, he’s gone 0-3 with an 11.05 ERA and 2.318 WHIP in four career games against the Orioles over 14 2/3 innings.
Austin Hays is 2-for-4 with a home run against Canning. Tony Kemp is 1-for-12.
Henderson and Adley Rutschman will receive their Silver Slugger Awards before the game. Rutschman is only the second Orioles catcher to win it after Mickey Tettleton in 1989.
