Can Chris Davis lift his average above .199 for the first time since the end of the 2017 season?
A hit in his first at-bat today will raise Davis’ average to .202. He’s currently at .193 and batting sixth.
Davis is batting .309 (17-for-55) with three doubles, four home runs, 14 RBIs and eight runs scored in his last 19 games since April 13.
Trey Mancini is hitting .483 (14-for-29) with three home runs and eight runs scored in the first inning. He’s the designated hitter today with Joey Rickard in right field.
Renato Núñez is 1-for-27 since collecting two hits in Game 1 of a May 1 doubleheader in Chicago. He’s 4-for-48 since April 24 and manager Brandon Hyde put him on the bench this afternoon.
Stevie Wilkerson continues to play center field. Richie Martin is the shortstop.
Dylan Bundy is coming off his best start of the season, when he shut out the Rays on three hits over 7 1/3 innings in a 3-0 win. He’s made three career appearances against the Angels and allowed 11 earned runs (13 total) and 16 hits in 12 2/3 innings. But he’s walked only one batter and struck out 14, so he has that going for him.
In his only start against the Angels last season, Bundy surrendered home runs to Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Justin Upton in 4 1/3 innings in a 10-7 loss in Anaheim.
Trout is 4-for-6 with a double and two home runs against Bundy. Pujols is 3-for-7 with a double and a home run, and Andrelton Simmons is 4-for-5 with a double. Justin Bour has two hits in three at-bats, both home runs.
Matt Harvey is 1-3 with a 6.94 ERA and 1.376 WHIP in seven starts over 36 1/3 innings in his first season with the Angels. He’s averaging a career-low 5.4 strikeouts per nine innings.
Harvey has never faced the Orioles. Jonathan Villar is 2-for-9 with a home run.
