Aaron Brooks started against the Blue Jays on April 19 while pitching for the Athletics and allowed five runs and six hits in five innings.
Brooks is 0-3 with a 24.55 ERA and 3.273 WHIP in three career starts against the Jays covering only 7 1/3 innings. He’s allowed 20 runs and 17 hits with seven walks.
The other two starts came in 2014 and 2015.
Right-hander Wilmer Font, whose contract was purchased from the Mets on July 17, is starting for the Blue Jays. He was pitching for the Rays on April 17 when he allowed one run and struck out four batters in two relief innings. Rio Ruiz homered off him.
Tonight is Font’s first start with Toronto after four relief appearances. He’s struck out nine batters in eight innings and also allowed four runs and nine hits.
The Orioles have allowed 10 or more runs in 20 games. The Mariners and Pirates are next with 19.
A scoring change in the July 17 game against the Nationals has removed an error on second baseman Brian Dozier in the eighth inning and awarded a hit to Jonathan Villar. All runs in the inning are now earned.
