The catching platoon for the Orioles has been put on hold, with Welington Castillo getting another start tonight against the Blue Jays at Camden Yards.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Castillo is only the second catcher in Orioles history to go 4-for-4 with three or more RBIs, joining Andy Etchebarren on Sept. 28, 1973 against the Indians.
Also per Elias, Tim Beckham’s 47 hits in August are the second-most in club history for a single month. Cal Ripken Jr. had 53 hits in September…

Jonathan Schoop has 30 home runs and 99 RBIs. He’s on the verge of joining Ripken and Miguel Tejada as the only middle infielders in club history with a 30-home run, 100-RBI season.
Jeremy Hellickson is 5-5 with a 3.61 ERA in 16 career starts against the Blue Jays. José Bautista is 12-for-33 (.364) with a double, triple and three home runs. Josh Donaldson is 0-for-8 with four strikeouts.
Marco Estrada is making his fourth start against the Orioles this season. He’s allowed three runs and struck out 24 batters in 20 2/3 innings.
The current group of Orioles is batting .185 (38-for-205) against him. Manny Machado (.083) is 2-for-24 with a home run and nine walks. Chris Davis is 3-for-25 (.120) with two home runs, seven walks and nine strikeouts. Schoop is 5-for-26 (.192) with a double, two home runs and 10 strikeouts.
Single-A Frederick outfielder Ademar Rifaela, 22, has been named the Carolina League’s Most Valuable Player. He joins infielder Ryan Mountcastle on the postseason All-Star team.
Rifaela, of Curacao, is batting .280/.350/.499 in 121 games with 21 doubles, one triple, 24 HRs, 78 RBIs, 70 runs scored and seven stolen bases.
Rifaela and infielder Brandon Waring are the only Keys to win the award in the franchise’s 29-year history. Waring took the honor in 2009.
