Ramón Urías is making his second career start at first base this afternoon, as the Orioles concluded their homestand.
Manager Brandon Hyde is stacking his lineup with right-handed bats, including James McCann catching, Ryan McKenna in left field and Joey Ortiz at second base.
Austin Hays is leading off, with Gunnar Henderson in the cleanup spot.
Tyler Wells has posted a 3.24 ERA in 13 games (12 starts), and his 0.853 WHIP leads the majors. He’s allowed five runs in his last three starts over 18 innings.
Wells has made eight career appearances against the Blue Jays, including two starts, and allowed 10 runs and 18 hits in 14 2/3 innings.
The Rays won last night in Oakland and lead the Orioles by five games in the American League East.
Toronto left-hander Yusei Kikuchi is 6-2 with a 4.34 ERA and 1.342 WHIP in 13 starts. His 18 home runs allowed are tied with Jordan Lyles and Lance Lynn for most in the majors.
Kikuchi hasn’t gone more than five innings in his last six starts and eight of nine. He’s allowed two runs in five innings in each of his last three outings.
The Orioles had three runs and three hits with four walks against Kikuchi in 4 2/3 innings on May 19. Ryan Mountcastle hit a three-run homer, but he’s on the injured list with vertigo.
Kikuchi has a 6.29 ERA and 1.515 WHIP in nine career games (six starts) against the Orioles.
McKenna is 4-for-10 with three doubles. Hays is 2-for-13 with a home run.
