The fan who threw a banana on the field during the ninth inning of Sunday’s Orioles-Giants game at AT&T Park told the San Jose Mercury News that it wasn’t racially motivated. He did it out of frustration with the home team as he left his seat.
Here’s the story.
Alexander Poulides, 42, apologized for the incident. The Giants have apologized. Jones appears to have moved on, continuing to tweet today at @SimplyAJ10 after indicating last night that he might give up social media.
It’s probably time for the media to move on, as well.
Poulides was still wrong to throw an object on the field, no matter the motivation. The Giants can now deal with it.
