Orioles lineup vs. Dodgers in series finale

The Orioles will try to make it six wins in a row and back-to-back sweeps with a unique lineup this afternoon.

Jeremiah Jackson is leading off and playing right field, Jorge Mateo is in center field and Luis Vázquez is at second base.

Ryan Mountcastle moves up to second in the order.

Alex Jackson is catching. The Orioles will have an update later on Samuel Basallo’s right hand.

Jackson Holliday, Colton Cowser and Dylan Beavers also are on the bench.

Tomoyuki Sugano is 10-7 with a 4.41 ERA and 1.322 WHIP in 26 starts. He tied U.S. career highs with seven runs and 10 hits allowed over 3 1/3 innings in his last start in San Francisco.

The Orioles last night became the only team since the expansion era (1961) to win a game after breaking up a no-hit bid when down to its final out.

The Dodgers are starting future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw, the three-time Cy Young Award winner, 2014 National League Most Valuable Player and 11-time All-Star who’s 9-2 with a 3.28 ERA and 1.179 WHIP in 18 games. He’s surrendered only seven home runs in 93 1/3 innings.

Kershaw has never faced the Orioles in 18 seasons. Four current players have at-bats against him. Dylan Carlson is 2-for-8 with a double, Alex Jackson and Jorge Mateo are 0-for-2, and Emmanuel Rivera is 1-for-6.

Left-handed batters are hitting .346 with a .577 slugging percentage against Kershaw’s fastball this season. Right-handers are hitting .244 with a .359 slugging.
