Colton Coswer and Coby Mayo are on the bench for tonight’s series opener against the Giants at Camden Yards.
Dylan Beavers is starting in center field and Blaze Alexander is the third baseman.
Gunnar Henderson stays in the leadoff spot, followed by Taylor Ward.
Ward has nine doubles in his 12 career games with the Orioles, tied for the most through that span with Bo Bichette (2019), Mitch Moreland (2017) and Nap Lajoie (1901).
Samuel Basallo is the designated hitter tonight.
Shane Baz is making his third Orioles start after allowing one run in 5 2/3 innings in Pittsburgh. A scoring change removed Baz’s error, made the run earned and raised his ERA to 4.09.
Baz has never faced the Giants. Rafael Devers is 0-for-10 with five strikeouts against him. Luis Arraez hit a grand slam off Baz in 2022 with the Twins.
The Giants’ Landen Roupp is the 13th consecutive right-hander to face the Orioles. He’s allowed five earned runs (seven total) with 14 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings in his first two starts.
Roupp shut out the Padres on two hits over six innings in his season debut. He’s never faced the Orioles.
Left-handers are 1-for-19 against Roupp this season.
The last-place Giants have won two in a row and are 5-8 under first-time major league manager Tony Vitello, who made an unprecedented leap from college at the University of Tennessee.
Their five home runs rank last in the majors, their .283 on-base percentage is 29th and their .335 slugging and .618 OPS are 27th.
Tonight’s game airs on Apple TV with Alex Faust (play-by-play), Ryan Spilborghs (analyst) and Tricia Whitaker (sideline reporter).
